Australian reality TV stars have revealed the 'nightmare' contractual detail that is putting a stop to their budding careers as influencers.

For the stars of hit shows such as Married At First Sight and The Bachelor, becoming an influencer seems like the next logical step after soaring to reality TV fame.

However, contestants have revealed how the shows' stringent social media rules are standing in their way from launching successful careers on the platforms.

Contestants of most Aussie reality TV shows are required to hand over their social media while the show airs, a rule which the stars have shared their frustration over.

One unnamed MAFS star told Yahoo! Lifestylethey 'never' would have signed up for the series if they knew how strict the contracts were for the Channel Nine show.

Meanwhile, a contestant from the 2024 series of Seven's Farmer Wants A Wife told the publication it was 'too late' for them to pursue a career as an influencer when they finally regained control of their social media.

'I had so many messages about collaborations/sponsorships in my inbox when I was allowed access to my Instagram but by the time I was in the driver's seat those opportunities had dried up,' they explained.

A former contestant on The Block added:'It has been a nightmare and the access you give to a complete stranger feels like a massive invasion of privacy.'

A source claimed there have been official complaints from recent reality TV stars over the stringent rules, leading to the networks considering some new strategies.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine and Seven for comment.

The 2024 cast of MAFS have been trying to cash in on their newfound TV fame since the show aired earlier this year.

Lucinda Light is set to take to the road later this year after selling out a speaking tour in the United Kingdom, and is also in discussions to bring the tour Down Under.

The celebrant also said she wouldn't rule out a return to TV screens and dreams of appearing on Dancing With The Stars and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.

'I really want to be on one of those dancing shows where you get to wear sequin leotards, learn how to dance, and get really fit,' she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

'I think it would utterly tickle my expressive, creative side and I have no doubt I'd have a lot of fun.'

Eden Harper went back to her day job just days after filming for MAFS wrapped, but she has also signed up with an influencer talent company as a side gig.

When asked what her 'day job' is by multiple fans during a recent Q&A session, Eden replied: 'I still work as a recruitment manager in the medical industry. I went back the day after I landed home from filming.'

As well as her full-time employment, Eden has also launched a career as a social media star, signing up with the One Daydream (ODd) talent team.

Lauren Dunn signed with one of Australia's top celebrity talent firms, SF Celebrity Management, but insisted she has no plans of becoming an influencer and instead wants tolaunch 'a career in media television'.

Their co-stars including Sara Mesa, Tristan Black and Tim Calwell have also been making a string of nightclub appearances to cash in on their new-found fame.
